Elijah Burns announced via Twitter that he has signed his first professional contract to play basketball in Bulgaria.
Burns will play for BC Rilski Sportist which is in the city of Samokov. The club has a 93 year history and competes in the NBL and FIBA Europe Cup.
The native of Troy, NY started out his career at Notre Dame where he struggled through injuries under Mike Brey. He played in 44 games over four years in South Bend averaging just 2.2 points per game.
The 6-foot-8 forward moved closer to home to play at Siena for the 2019-20 season where he flourished under Carmen Maciariello. Burns started all 29 games he played at Siena averaging a career high 14.4 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds.
He was named Second Team All-MAAC and helped lead his squad to a conference championship during the 2019-20 season.
