Amy Winehouse died nine years ago today

Nine years ago today, the world lost one of the most talented singers ever.

Amy Winehouse died on July 23, 2011 in London, UK.

One of my favourite videos of Winehouse is from her performance at SXSW in 2007.

SXSW is an annual music conference in Austin, TX where music industry executives from all over the world come together in search of the next big thing. Traditionally, playing at SXSW can be tough for an artist because you don’t get the same reaction from industry people who are often talking over your performance or scrolling through their phones.

However, Winehouse had the room of industry execs captivated. You could hear a pin drop on the floor when she performed her song “Back to Black.”

Click the above video to watch her mesmerizing performance.

RIP Amy Winehouse.
