Here are the 10 worst teams in college basketball during the 2020-21 season.
There are still a number of college basketball teams who have yet to win a single game so far during the 2020-21 season. That’s not good.
If you’re an assistant coach looking to land your first head coaching job, I would suggest sending a resume to the athletic director of any of the 10 schools listed below.
Here is the list of the 10 worst teams in college basketball this year.
- Chicago State Cougars 0-9
They started off the season getting blown out by 40 points or more in just about every game. Then they announced they were “opting out.” I can translate that for you, it means they quit. Regardless of how bad other teams are on this list at least their players are still out there competing and didn’t quit like Chicago State.
- Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 0-13
In their 13 losses they have been outscored in those games 1123-662. They’re not close to getting a win under 2 X NBA champion Lindsey Hunter who is their head coach. Step up the recruiting, the world is a big place with plenty of good players.
- Idaho Vandals 0-13
The Vandals have been a bit more competitive in their losses than Mississippi Valley but still haven’t been able to get a win. They do have some winnable Big Sky conference games coming up so they could get a W sooner than later.
- South Carolina State Bulldogs 0-13
Like Idaho, they’ve been competitive in many of the losses and have simply been unlucky so far. However, they play in the MEAC which is one if the weakest conferences in the NCAA so they have to be able to get a win somewhere.
- Delaware State Hornets 0-11
They also play in the MEAC so its possible they’ll get at least one win before the season ends. They took a decent Norfolk State team to overtime but came up short which shows they at least have some fight and desire in them. Luck will hopefully turn for them soon.
- Loyola Maryland Greyhounds 0-5
They get a bit of a pass because the Patriot League didn’t start playing until early January so they will have plenty of games to break the winless streak. They lost their first four games by a combined eight points so they’ve been very competitive.
- Charleston Southern Buccaneers 1-15
Their only win this season came against Carver College which plays in the National Christian College Athletic Association. They have several one or two point losses so at least they’re competing and coming close.
- Saint Joseph’s Hawks 1-13
They did beat a decent Albany squad 67-64 but they simply don’t have the talent to compete against other A-10 teams. Doesn’t look they had a real plan in place after firing legendary head coach Phil Martelli after 24 years at the end of last season.
- Denver Pioneers 1-12
Their only win in 2020-21 came against D2 Ranger University. They had 2 or 3 games were they’ve come close to winning but have also been blown out quite a bit this season as well.
- Fordham Rams 1-8
Their losing has already cost head coach Jeff Neubauer his job (he was fired this week) which is something likely to happen to many of the coaches on the teams listed above Fordham. They did beat an excellent Dayton squad which makes you wonder what the heck is wrong with them in every other game.
