The Southland Conference tournament set to tip off March 10 in Katy, TX.
The Southland bracket has been set with Nicholls State as the No.1 seed following a season that saw the Colonels go 17-6 (14-2 SLC).
Abilene Christian will be the No.2 seed following an impressive 2020-21 that saw them post a record of 21-4 (13-2 SLC).
Perennial powerhouse Stephen F. Austin would’ve been the No.4 seed with a record of 16-5 (12-3 SLC) but they are ineligible for postseason this year due to poor academic standards in recent years.
The good news is up to 2000 fans will be allowed in attendance at the Merrell Center with Texas Governor Greg Abbott announcing this week that all restrictions have been lifted in his state.
Here is the complete Southland bracket for 2021:

Predictions for the winner: Abilene Christian should win the Southland. Joe Golding’s Wildcats posted the No.8 scoring defence in all of college basketball allowing just 60.8 points per game this season.
Long shot possibility: I can’t see any long shot winner this year in the Southland with the top three teams clearly in a class above the rest of the field. Expect either Nicholls, Abilene Christian or Sam Houston State to earn a spot in the NCAA tournament.
