Loyola-Chicago with another prayer answered upset No.1 Illinois

No.8 seed Loyola-Chicago gets past No.1 seed Illinois comfortably 71-58 to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (26-4) looked confident while easily dismissing the Illinois Fighting Illini (24-7) in their second round matchup in the NCAA Tournament.

It took an All-American performance from senior centre Cameron Krutwig to get past the two All-Americans on Illinois Kofi Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu.

Krutwig was dominant with 19 points and 12 rebounds and he also helped silence the USA Today National Player of the Year Dosunmu who only managed nine points in the game.


The Ramblers have the No.1 rated scoring defense in college basketball allowing just 55.7 points per game.

Loyola-Chicago is now 15-5 all time in the NCAA Tournament which ties Duke for the best winning percentage (.750) in tournament history.

The Ramblers will now face the winner of the Oklahoma State vs Oregon State game.
