The Missouri Valley Conference released its schedule for the 2021-22 NCAA basketball season.
The MVC is one of the more competitive mid-major conferences in college basketball that could see a shift in power with the graduation of Loyola-Chicago’s Cameron Krutwig who led the Ramblers to another conference title and was named Player of the Year in 2020-21 along with head coach Porter Moser who departed to take over at the University of Oklahoma.
The Drake Bulldogs (26-5) finished second to Loyola-Chicago (26-5) but still earned an at large bid to the NCAA tournament. The Bulldogs return the core of their line up including Shanquan “Tank” Hemphill who led the team in scoring with 13.2 PPG as well as four of their top five scorers.
Watch out for a young Southern Illinois squad to improve on their 12-14 record and be in contention this year along with the likes of Indiana State and Valparaiso.
The State Farm MVC “Arch Madness” Tournament will take place March 3-6 at Enterprise in St. Louis, Mo.
