Look for Class of 2022 Majambu Mbikay to skyrocket up recruiting boards over the next few months.
Orangeville Prep hasn’t played an actual league game since February of 2019 due to government restrictions across Canada so its understandable that many of their elite players have yet to receive a scholarship offer.
However, with Orangeville’s league schedule set to begin October 20 along with the start of their new alternate league The Platinum Circuit NCAA interest in all of their players should begin to heat up in the coming weeks.
One player expected to skyrocket up recruiting boards across the United States will be 6’8 forward Majambu Mbikay.
Mbikay is originally from the Montreal area but has been playing high school ball in Ontario over the past few years. He started out at TRC Academy where he averaged 13.6 points per game during 2019-20 as a sophomore and moved over to Orangeville the following year.
Mbikay plays with plenty of confidence along with a chip on his shoulder. He is an explosive athlete capable of highlight reel dunks night in and night out. He can attack the rim or step back and shoot comfortably from mid-range.
At the college level, Mbikay would be capable of playing significant minutes immediately for some of the better mid-major teams in the MVC, MAC, OVC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, C-USA and A-10. He has the talent level to play for a high major program but would need to ease his way into the lineup during his sophomore year and beyond.
Either way, look for Mbikay to be playing NCAA basketball for the start of the 2022-23 season.
