Detroit’s Davis and Oakland’s Cain split Horizon League Player of the Year award

The Horizon League announced the 2021-22 #HLMBB All-League Awards.

Detroit Mercy senior guard Antoine Davis and Oakland senior forward Jamal Cain were named the Horizon League Co-Players of the Year for 2021-22.

Davis is No.3 in the country in scoring with 23.7 points per game and led the Horizon League for the fourth year in a row. He also ranks No.2 in the country in three-pointers made.

Cain showed he is able by averaging 20.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season. He was one of only two players in the country to average over 20 points and 10 rebounds and the only Horizon player averaging a double-double this year.

Cleveland State’s D’Moi Hodge was named Defensive Player of the Year with Sam Vinson of Northern Kentucky being picked Freshman of the Year. Purdue Fort Wayne’s Deonte Billups was named the Sixth Man of the Year along with his head coach Jon Coffman being named as the Coach of the Year for the first time.
