Recruiting watch: Ibrahim Sacko 6-foot-7 G/F at J Addison

333

Ibrahim Sacko from J Addison is one of the top recruits coming out of Canada in 2023.

6-foot-7 Guard/Forward Ibrahim Sacko from J Addision Prep (Markham, ON) is one of the most explosive players coming out of Canada in the class of 2023.

If there was one word to describe Sacko’s play on the court this past season it would be; wow.

Sacko has an explosive first step that you usually see in smaller guards (guys around 6-foot tall), but he also has the size you need to compete at the NCAA level.

While Sacko is more than capable of shooting from behind the three-point arc, he seems more comfortable putting the ball on the floor and destroying just about every defender he has faced in the OSBA this season.

Defensively, Sacko is able to smother any number of players he is matched up against. He’s faster than most guards who are smaller than him and he is physical enough to go toe-to-toe with guys who are bigger than him.

He reminds me a little of Romad Dean who committed to play this past season at Fordham after several years at Crestwood Prep in Toronto. Sacko is much quicker than Dean at the same age although Dean may have been more of a physical presence but Sacko is a much better ball handler.

The only negative I see in his game is his listed of height of 6-foot-7. After standing next to Sacko, he appears to be closer to 6-foot-5 and change and not quite 6’7 as listed. He also doesn’t speak much English (only French) so he will have to work on that to be able to communicate effectively with his coaches and teammates.

Sacko is a player you could see making an immediate impact for any higher mid-major program at the NCAA D1 level and would be an absolute steal in recruiting for any low to mid-major program.

There is zero doubt he can succeed at the D1 level, its just a matter of where he can take his game once he gets into college.
